It sounds like the boot latch is failing. To be honest I’d just swap it out.

I think I’ve fixed this.
There was no spring but I’ve managed to reassemble the mechanism.
Got to put the door back together tomorrow.

OK I’ve found the problem. Thanks to the post I’ve linked to below I’ve realised the coiled spring is missing. God knows where it is though as it’s not in the door cavity!! Turning over and not starting sounds like the rotor arm - nice easy and cheap fix.

I don’t know if you are referring to starting when hot, but if so, the fuel relay behind the centre console is notorious for failing on the Honda D series. A quick and easy fix if so - you can swap it or resolder the joints. Should be plenty of posts on this forum about it.
